Job Title: Data Architect  
 
Job Description:
Directs the design and development of scalable data architecture for business intelligence / business analytics technical solutions (including enterprise reporting, predictive analytics, data mining, etc.) Serves in a consultative role to systems programmers and ETL developers, and application development team(s) to develop and maintain the organizational BI data model. Lead cross functional teams to develop corporate best practices that support stability and ease of implementation. Assists in the implementation of all business intelligence data architecture systems and designs.
  • Leads project teams with the business units and the application teams in developing and maintaining the organization BI data model.
  • Assist in the design and development of an enterprise dimensional hub.
  • Manages cross functional teams to monitor and identify trends in data usage and opportunities to reduce data redundancy.
  • Translates business needs into long-term architecture solutions. Defines, designs and builds dimensional data warehouse and data marts.
  • Provide supplemental technical expertise, to application development project teams, to design develop, tune and implement optimized application objects and structures according project to project specifications.
  • Responsible for capacity planning and performance analysis, including scalability, availability, archiving strategy by solution, backup & recovery and security of data model.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry practices, trends and applications.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Job Requirements:
Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 8-10 years experience in data architecture, database architecture, data warehouse and business intelligence
  • Experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL
  • Highly advanced data management skills; data warehouse development skills including analysis, design, data repository development and implementation, and performance tuning.
  • Highly advanced database engineering skills including; setup, upgrades, replication, backup and recovery.
  • Data management and analytics engineering experience including platform and tool-set up, upgrades, data/transaction replication, backup and recovery, partitioning and performance tuning
  • Competent project management skills. Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility and understanding
  • Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously.
  • Highly advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into systems’ design and technical solutions.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of structured and object oriented programming, relational database design, operating systems, networking concepts, and systems integration
  • Highly advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that meaningful and well received.
  • Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional and technical disciplines.
  • Expert ability to balance details with departmental goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
Preferred:
  • Certified in or progress towards Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server Administrator Certification
  • Master’s degree
  • LOMA certification
  • PeopleSoft Certification
  • Experience in SQL Server database administration supporting Sharepoint
  • Knowledge of big data appliances and big data architecture
  • Insurance industry knowledge
